Couples Counseling
Do we call?
“Sam, all three of our grown kids are saying we need to do something. They’re saying this is too much and that they’re uncomfortable when they’re around us.
They say this has been going on for years but it’s gotten worse and they don’t know how to help. They don’t want us to spend the rest of our lives being miserable.
They want us to stop quarreling and be kinder and more loving to each other and I think they’re right.
I think we need to do something.
You know that I love you, but the way you snap at me is unnerving and also embarrasses me when we’re with the kids.
I know that I play a role… but I just don’t know the best way to respond.
What do you think?
“Florence, I think you’re right.
I feel bad for how I’ve treated you but I just get so damned irritated sometimes.
And, Lord knows, I love the kids and yes, I think we should listen to them. But, where do we start?”
And that is how it began.
It took a few months but this couple made the brave choice to begin couples counseling and in their work with me they grew to a greater appreciation of each other.
Their relationship turned into a gentle and harmonious one.
So, maybe now’s the time.
There are many reasons to choose couples counseling and I will carefully work to understand your unique background and issues so that you too can be glad you made the call– 503-479-5801
